The feed quantity shall be determined based on the fiber type and yarn count type. The lighter the yarn count, the less the feed quantity. Below is an example for each type of fiber.

Technique Process Calculation

1. Total draft ration = output speed / input speed = fiber feed quantity per minute / fiber output quantity per minute

2. Theoretical yield per set per hour calculation (kg per set per hour) = fiber feed quantity (g/m) x feed speed (m/min)

X producing rate (%) x 60 (min) x 6 (spindle) / 1000

When calculating the covering yarn yield, the core yarn input quantity must be added.

It = core yarn count (tex/1000) x winding speed (m/min).

3. Winding tension calculation

Winding tention (times) = yarn output speed / winding speed

So the value is normally between 0.98-1.05, depending on the fiber quality, yarn strength, yarn twist and yarn count etc.

4. Implication and interconversion of yarn count, metric yarn count and British yarn count

Yarn count (TEX) = gram of meter length per day

Metric yarn count = meters per gram

Each yarn count (Nc) = numbers of 840yard in one pound of yarn

100% cotton yarn: yarn count x British yarn count = 583.1

Chemical yarn count (average) yarn count x British yarn count = 590

Yarn count x metric yarn count = 1000
